Blog is a mash-up word for web log which means an online diary where people can tell or write about their personal lives in a chronological order. This was, of course, the definition way back the 90’s until people, companies and groups started to post different topics to their blogs rather than personal journals in the late 90’s. There were now news, commentaries, descriptions of events, graphics and videos instead of just plain text journals. Because of this breakthrough and the rise of popularity, blogs became the mainstream for news service, politics, outreach and opinion forming. Thus, making its definition less accurate.

Now, according to problogger.net “A blog is a type of website which entries are usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom.” This is rather an accurate definition for a blog. It is not limited to certain topic or niche but instead covers all of them. A lot may still define blogs as an online journal, but it is not limited to that anymore. Blogs have now evolved to a much greater medium of information, education, entertainment and a whole lot.
